Getting to a point where I could pin down a title for this piece was tedious. Utterly frustrating. Names are always problematic but when it comes to finding the words to encapsulate your largest work to date it is plain troublesome.

The main worry I had was that I would draw up something which was too emotive, too much rooted in imagination. Of course, Francis and myself have spoken about imagery and the feel of the piece endlessly however it never seemed right to make the text embody that. James helped guide me closer to a title which was strong yet not leading. The words had to be clean enough not to determine what should be read but also strong enough to hold the performance together. Clean and Strong.

Possibly I have achieved that to some degree. The title now rolls off the tongue and I am comfortable in how it sounds. The line has been drawn in the sand.

However it could not hurt to document the other possibilities James, Francis and I drafted. :

  • Revisiting these Landscapes
  • Maelstrom
  • Anchored in Dust
  • Just This
  • Down the Beaten Path
  • Shades of Grey
  • Recursions through Subroutine
  • Acts of Chaos
  • Cause and Effect
  • The Noise of Recurrence
  • Dirtied Feet
  • The Irrelevant Elephant
  • Chaotic Recursion
  • Same/Different
  • Subject to Chapter and Verse
  • Gravel in the Mouth
